1. The Nomad Mindset Begins

Stability v Possibility: one path is defined — the other opens to the world.

I guess this is where it really starts.

Over ten years ago, I quit my corporate job in London.

No dramatic exit. No perfectly thought-out strategy. I just knew something didn’t feel right anymore.

The plan was to travel around Asia for six months, clear my head, have a bit of an adventure… and then go back.

I didn’t go back (other than for a few short visits).

Six months quietly became a year. Then another. Countries changed. Visas came and went.

I figured out ways to work online. I stumbled into opportunities I never could have planned.

And before I knew it, the place that was meant to be temporary became home.

That’s something I really want to emphasise.

This life wasn’t engineered.

It wasn’t a bold, fearless masterstroke. It was built slowly, imperfectly, step by step.

I didn’t wake up one day and decide to become a “digital nomad.” I just chose not to return to a version of life that didn’t fit anymore — and I stayed open to what came next.

That’s why I created The Nomad Mindset.

Not to sell a fantasy. Not to pretend this path is always sunsets and laptops by the beach.

It isn’t.

There are trade-offs, and they’re real. You miss weddings. You miss birthdays. Relationships can be harder.

Stability looks different.

Some days are uncertain. Some months feel uncomfortable.

And that part matters.

Because if we’re going to talk about this lifestyle, we need to talk about all of it — the freedom and the friction.

For me, though, the freedom has outweighed the discomfort.

The ability to redesign my environment when something stops working.

The growth that comes from constantly being pushed outside your comfort zone. The perspective you gain when you realise there isn’t one single template for how life is “supposed” to look.

I’ve worked online.

I’ve taken local opportunities in places I never expected to stay.

I’ve doubted myself more than once.

I’ve questioned whether I should move back to the UK.

But every time, I’ve come back to the same realisation: this version of life feels more aligned.

And that’s the core of what this site stands for.

It’s not about escaping. It’s about choosing deliberately.

It’s about understanding that the conventional path isn’t the only path.

It’s about giving yourself permission to test something different — even if you don’t have it fully figured out.

If you’re quietly considering a change — leaving your job, moving abroad, working remotely, pressing reset — I want to emphasise this: It is not as impossible as it feels.

You don’t need to be extraordinary. You don’t need a flawless plan. You just need the willingness to take the first step and tolerate a bit of uncertainty.

This blog is where I’ll share the reality of my journey so far — the lessons, the mistakes, the mindset shifts, the practical side, and the emotional side.

This is the beginning.

And if you’re standing on the edge of something new, maybe this is your reminder that stepping forward is allowed.
