I opened my eyes, looked out the window, and everything had changed.

18.Through the Night to Krabi
We pulled into the bus station, and straight away, you could feel it.
Busy.
Loud.
Full of movement.
This wasn’t just a stop — it was a proper transport hub.
One of Bangkok’s main ones.
Buses lined up everywhere, each with signs across the front heading to different places.
Cities, towns, destinations I’d never even heard of. It felt like everything was moving at once, all in different directions.
The minibus dropped us off, and I grabbed my bags from the back, thanking the driver before heading inside.
I already had my ticket, which made things easier.
Just needed to check in and find my platform.
I had about twenty minutes before departure.
And again… it became one of those moments.
Standing there, watching it all.
Families saying goodbye.
Travellers heading off.
Locals returning home.
Everyone on their own journey, for their own reasons.
And there I was, right in the middle of it.
Heading somewhere I’d never been.
With no real idea what to expect.
There was excitement.
A bit of nerves too.
But it felt different now.
I’d already done the big leap.
Leaving home.
The flight.
Arriving in a completely new place.
This felt like the next step.
Then the bus arrived.
I showed my ticket, watched my bag disappear underneath, and stepped onboard.
I got a window seat.
One of the first on.
Not that there was much to see at that point — it was already dark.
But I knew that would change come morning.
A local man took the seat next to me.
Gave me a small smile as he sat down.
Simple, but it put me at ease.
We were going to be there a while.
Before long, the bus filled up.
And then… we were off.
I put my headphones in.
Played my music.
Just sat there, looking out into the darkness.
And I felt it again.
That feeling.
Alive.
Not thinking too far ahead.
Not worrying about what comes next.
Just being in it.
It hit me then — the journey itself matters just as much as the destination.
Maybe more sometimes.
Hours passed.
I didn’t sleep much at first. Just watched the lights fade as we left the city behind.
The skyline disappeared, replaced by long, open roads and darkness.
At some point after midnight, we pulled into a service stop.
Bright lights.
Big space.
Surprisingly clean.
I didn’t need anything — I’d already stocked up earlier.
Water, snacks, enough to get me through.
But it was interesting just being there.
People eating full meals at 2am.
Noodles, rice, soup.
Life just continuing, even at that hour.
After around half an hour, we were back on the road.
Somewhere along the way, I managed to get a bit of sleep.
Not much, but enough.
Then slowly… light.
I opened my eyes and looked out the window.
And everything had changed.
The sun was rising.
And in the distance — limestone cliffs.
Huge.
Dramatic.
Something I’d never seen before.
It stopped me.
That kind of quiet moment where you just sit and take it in.
If there was ever a feeling to bottle… that was one of them.
Not long after, the announcement came.
Krabi bus station.
We were arriving.
And just like that… I’d made it.
A new place. A new chapter.
And whatever was coming next… I was ready for it.
